Why I'm Running!

Growing up in the Tri-Cities, I learned a love for service from my mother, my family, and a community that always showed up for one another. I learned early that when people come together — even when resources are scarce — community itself becomes the most powerful resource we have.

As the first in my family to graduate from college, I chose a career in public service because I was inspired by people in communities organizing, raising their voices, and demanding the outcomes they need to thrive.

I am the daughter of immigrants who worked tirelessly to give my brothers and me a strong start in life. I’ve made the 29th District my home, and as your representative in Olympia, I believe our community should be a place where everyone has the opportunity to build a future for their families — just as mine did.

But right now, too many families in the 29th District are struggling just to get by.

This isn’t right. This isn’t a world I’m willing to accept and you shouldn’t have to either. I’m running for Washington State Senate to represent the 29th because I know that together, we can change this.

The painfully high cost of living is making it impossible for families here to afford the strong foundation they deserve, one where we all have a fair shot at the life we want:

  • Schools where our kids can succeed;

  • Health care that meets people’s real needs;

  • Good paying jobs that provide enough to feed our families;

  • Clean air to breathe and clean water to drink;

  • And a democracy that includes ALL of us.

I’m running to be the champion for everyone in our community who is saying, “If you give us a shot, we will deliver.” It’s time to give every Washingtonian a fair shot in this economy. That's what the people of my district, and our state, deserve.

As your State Senator, that’s exactly what I’ll focus on: delivering for you. It’s what I’ve done since you first elected me — passing laws to prevent utility shutoffs during extreme heat, removing toxic chemicals from everyday products, strengthening voting rights, and securing millions of dollars for housing and community projects in our district.

I am energized to represent our district in the Senate because I know that real change happens when we show up together. That’s how we’ve made progress — and that’s how we’ll continue delivering the fair shot you deserve.
