Washington state has had an upside-down tax structure that, for far too long, has relied on the lowest earners to fund our state’s budget while letting millionaires and billionaires take a free ride. Meanwhile, the federal administration is doing everything it can to raise prices for food, medication, child care, housing and everything in between.
No more. This Legislative Session, I was so proud to vote in favor of the Millionaire’s Tax relieves the burden on low-income Washingtonians while asking the wealthiest in our state to pay a little bit more. The Millionaire’s Tax makes the Working Families Tax Credit available to a half-million more Washingtonians, will help families pursue an education for their children, and will make it easier for people to afford basic needs and build their dreams.​
It’s time every Washington family gets a fair shot to build a future for themselves and their families. That’s why we fought so hard this session to make sure you pay less while the wealthiest in our state pay their fair share. And I will never stop fighting to make sure the days of balancing our budget on the backs of working families are behind us.
