Environment and Healthy Communities
VALUE STATEMENT
Washington state is a beautiful place to live, thanks to stewardship across generations that has made possible clear air, clean water, and healthy families. We have a shared responsibility to our communities and future generations to continue this stewardship by taking meaningful climate action, building a sustainable and affordable energy future, and ending the legacy of environmental injustice against low-income and communities of color.
As both a leader in our state Department of Ecology and the Governor’s representative in Washington, D.C., I have helped protect our state’s environment, lead the drive for a clean energy economy, and ensure our communities are protected against pollution, neglect, and exploitation. In the Legislature, I passed a law that protects all of us from poisons in household products and keeps children safe from dangerous products carelessly sold over the Internet. My commitment as your senator is to protect our state’s precious natural beauty, fight to keep our communities a healthy place to live and grow up, and build a clean energy economy that provides prosperity and opportunity for all.
